I am lazy. I just leave the car out in the rain for a couple days. That usually takes care of it, lol.

A mild dish soap should take it off. If not you can go to the local parts house and get some bug and tar remover. This will do the trick. However be sure and follow the directions closely. You may want to test it out on the inside of the door frame or some place out of sight just in case. After you get it off, you should wash your car and apply a good coat of wax.

Good Luck

if its bedded in then you can use a cutting compound called G3 use this with clean cloths you can get these cloths from car accessory shops gently use circular polishing movements with the G3 on the car this takes a fine top layer off ie grime sap etc
and go to the next spot rubbing in and wiping off and so on till you have done all the area needed
once thats done use a decent car polish and polish the roof etc the car will be fine and smooth

the cloth is called mutton cloth

Plenty of hot water with soapy cloth and gently rub in a circle around the area affected.
Please only use this method or you will need a new spray job on your car roof.

depends on your paint really....

base coat clear coat paints: lacquer thinner, paint thinner, kerosene, lighter fluid, wax and grease remover, finger nail polish remover, acetone. just re-wax after wards. using a soft cloth or soft paper towel, it will wipe away/dissolve in a matter of a few swipes.

if lacquer based paint (old car): you have to be care full as many chemicals will remove the paint. strongest I would use is the lighter fluid, wax and grease remover. otherwise try waxes and compounds.

Kerosene, not paint stripper. Kerosene will work and not hurt paint but will remove the wax. Re wax.
