is there anybody have ever tried it before? How does it feel living in such a small compartment? Is it safe for 2 girls living there?

Capsule hotels are simply tiny (think bunk bed ..top bunk) berths where business men crash for the night when they have had too much to drink or miss the last train home. I have never heard of any capsule hotel taking women and would highly doubt many would welcome foreign females. While Japan is relatively safe, I certainly would not suggest these places as smart choices for young, female travelers. You'd be surrounded by men and would each have your won capsule and be surrounded by males,often highly intoxicated ones. We lived in Japan for several years and I would not allow my daughter to stay in one.

There are 2 eastern bookstores in manhattan. One on 6 Av, 40-one St and yet another on 40 5 St between 5 and 6 avs. it might desire to be available to advance a mini Akihabara there, yet with all the regulations, the provision of anime and manga on the internet, and absence of interest in accumulating stuff like this, it is going to take a huge inflow of eastern human beings to immigrate to usa just to initiate springing up a mini Akihabara. In different words, no longer likely as of 2013, yet you in no way understand.

The space in a capsule hotel is no more smaller than a berth in a Pullman car, but I guess the younger generation has probably never travelled by sleeper car. That being said, it's a fact that you will run into men who are totally loaded at a capsule hotel so you might be happier in a youth hostel.

Bad idea..they are far to small(even for one person) stay in a hotel or a Inn..or even a park is better than a capsule hotel...

No, I don't think it is safe for you two. Many drunk men will stay in cages pretty close to you in the same room.. At least you will be stared at at midnight. Sigh,,,,,,
