you answer your own question.

Maybe, it's due to his age that he feels more comfortable working in India compared to abroad. Don't you think the jetlag would kill him, if he had to keep flying between countries for his shoots and promos.

It's not the actor, but the director who decides the look of the stars in a particular movie. So he's got to agree with whatever clothes and look that the director demands for, as long as proper decency is maintained. Don't blame Mr.Amitabh for that.

He must be having his reasons for his decisions, but he's positively not stupid.

im not a biggest fan but he is diffinitly not stupid.
he was almost finished in the 1990s, his company was trashed aswell, at this age he started again, payed all his debts , re build his reputation and went streaght up again it is really admirable.
he himself has accepted it that he had to work extra and do more movies for the money.
and why would he go to hollywood? to do a 10 minute role of an indian maharaja or doctor?

I was his biggest fan but when I read that he didn't invited any muslim co-stars: Sharukh, Saif, etc,. So I was furious and now I think he's a racist.

What was that all about?? Do you have any clue why he didn't invited the people he's working with in this industry for such a long era?

Amitabh Bachchan * Born: Oct 11, 1942 in Allahabad, India * Occupation: Actor * Active: '70s-'80s, 2000s * Major Genres: Drama, Action * Career Highlights: Kaante, Agneepath, Chernyy Prints Adzhuba * First Major Screen Credit: Abhimaan (1973) Biography Amitabh Bachchan is the undisputed king of Indian cinema; having appeared in over 90 films, he is certainly one of his country's most prolific performers. His 1969 film debut, Saat Hindustani, was not met with success, but within a few years his place as a top action star in India would be firmly established. His 1970s success, including such films as Zanjeer, Deewar, and Sholay, would continue for over ten years. Eventually, Bachchan retired almost completely from acting and pursued other interests, including in film production and a brief political stint in Indian parliament. Although popular male action stars throughout Asia are inevitably compared to Clint Eastwood, Bachchan may, in fact, defy this rather cliched analogy. In addition to strong acting and presence, this Indian superstar's performances have also required singing and dancing in the elaborate musical numbers that are popular in his country's cinema. Later career During the late 1980s, after his brief stint in politics, Bachchan's films became less and less successful. Many flopped. He dropped out of the film industry (temporarily as it turns out) after 1992. He returned to films in 1997, but hits still eluded him. His first comeback vehicle, Mrityudaata, was a box-office disaster. Subsequent ventures, too, were financial failures. Critics complained that Amitabh was still playing the "angry young man" even though he was in his mid-fifties. He was no longer convincing. In 2000, Bachchan had his first hit in years: Mohabbatein. In this film, he played a stern headmaster who has shut love out of his life, and his school. It was a complete break with the "angry young man" persona. Of course, Amitabh was also sharing the screen with Shah Rukh Khan, who had by then become the new reigning star of the industry. Was this success a fluke, due only to Shah Rukh's charisma? Bachchan then accepted an offer to host an Indian version of the popular British gameshow, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, or Kaun Banega Crorepati? The show was a hit, as was his appearance as a stern patriarch in Ek Rishta, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.... Amitabh was conceded to have regained much of his old magic. He has since appeared in a number of films, often in unconventional or supporting roles. Not all of these films have been hits. Critics say that this is a resurgence of his old problem, lack of selectivity. In 2005, the Walter Reade Theater of Lincoln Center hosted a special tribute to Bachchan, showing many of his popular films. Although most of the shows did not sell out (Amar Akbar Anthony was a rare exception), the tribute also included "An Evening with Amitabh Bachchan", hosted at the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. The event included a live appearance by Bachchan. Tickets were priced at $60.00 per seat and sold out days in advance. The tribute was an unprecedented honour for an Indian actor. Trivia * He has not made a public appearance without his goatee since Mohabbatein, although in Khakee and Lakshya the goatee was reduced to a moustache; he grew it back as soon as the films finished post-production. * His parents initially planned to name him "Inquilaab", which means "Revolution". * He is ambidextrous, though on-screen he is most often seen using his left hand. * He once burned his hand badly while lighting a firecracker. For this reason, he kept the hand concealed throughout much of the filming of Sharaabi. Most viewers took this to be an artistic "statement". * Before entering the film industry, Bachchan applied for a job with All India Radio. The man whose voice has long been considered one of his strongest on-screen assets ... was turned down. * He learned sign language for his 2005 film, Black. * He is the first Indian actor to have been immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London. * He has received the Padma Bhushan as well as the Padma Vibhushan, two of India's most highly-regarded civilian awards. * In a poll conducted by Channel 4 Film he was voted the "92nd Greatest Movie Star of All Time". Bachchan is the only Indian actor on the list, which is dominated by American actors. * In 2005 he worked in eleven films; this was the most he had done in a year throughout his whole career. Awards Bachchan has received the Padma Shri (1983) and Padma Bhushan (2005) civilian honours from the Indian government. In 1990, he won the National Award for his portrayal of an underworld don in Agneepath. In 1999, he was named BBC Superstar of the Millennium. He has also won fourteen Filmfare Awards in various categories. He recently won the 2006 FilmFare Best Actor Award for his role in the film Black.
