Cause sometimes they're not in our best interest... though we tend to be blinded by some force that tells us it must be the only thing in the world that is good... but alas we regain sight or move on to more loving or worthy things... I'm rambling on aren't I...

First you have to seperate the good from the bad, because if you wouldn't know the "bad" you couldn't treasure the "good".
And only as soon you have recognized that, you have to check your own values.
Because you'll find out, that "Good things" are returning and may last for a long time.
Have you ever enjoyed a beautiful sunset - or the joy of summer nights. These are things that are returning.
And if you find a love, that is worth it, it may last - for years and if you are very lucky even for your life.
It's all a matter of the point of view

Perhaps a better question might be....
Why do we pursue dead ends that are not really a good thing? You know, why don't we change our definition of what is a good thing?
Example: Too many people chase love and/or a relationship. They never find one that lasts. Perhaps we are chasing the goals on the wrong field of dreams. Maybe we need to select a better sport to play if hockey is not working.
Just a thought.
