I enjoy the company of my cat moreso than my brothers' babies. I get that fuzzy feeling whenever I look at a cute animal but I get nothing out of looking at babies. My family finds it shocking that I would prefer an animal over a human and criticize me for it.
You guys may say that everyone has their own tastes, we're all different, yada yada, but every time they tell me I'm not 'normal' I can't help but feel inhumane...
My family are real bigots when it comes to anything they don't see as 'normal'. I wish I knew how to convince them that just because a person has different feelings doesn't make them crazy...

No theres nothing wrong with you. You are just a male. I think my dog is cuter than my baby cousin that is supposedly adoreable. most babies are ugly, most animals are cute.

You're not inhumane....as long as you're not going out and being mean to babies, there's nothing "inhumane" about thinking animals are cuter than babies.
I've NEVER been fond of babies, or children for that matter...even when I was a kid myself, I preferred the company of animals, and adults. I've never wanted children. The idea of being pregnant and having a baby is one of the most personally unpleasant ideas I can think of.....and I'm an adult woman.
Babies do not really give me that 'warm fuzzy feeling' at all....mostly my thoughts are "Oh, look, a baby....that's nice." Show me a puppy or even a kitten....and I turn into a high-pitched, cooing ball of mush. I find myself feeling a bit "forced" whenever a friend of mine has a baby. I'll give a brief "congratulations! he/she's a cutie pie!" or what-have you.....but I can never understand when people continue to make a big deal over someone's baby months after the birth....or why people think they have no identity unless they have babies??? I try to be supportive and happy for my friends, but I can't help thinking in the back of my mind, "Great....you reproduced. Millions of stray dogs accomplish the same feat in back alleys on a regular basis. Get over yourself." LOL.
I think society puts way too much emphasis on the "typical" ways people's lives progress....you finish school, you get married, and inevitably you're "supposed" to have a bunch of kids. Not everyone is cut out to be a parent....and I think overall, our society would be healthier if more people realized this. Only those people who really have a soul-deep desire to commit their lives to raising a new human being as best they can, should attempt this task. People who have babies because they think they simply "should"....or because they don't know what else to do with their life, or to "fix" a crappy marriage, or to have someone who will take care of them when they are old....would be better off buying a houseplant.
Ignore your family, and ignore any narrowminded "sheep" of a person who hasn't got enough independent thought in their tiny brain to understand other people's points of view. As long as you never HARM any person, or you are not wallowing around in hatred and discontent for the human race.....there is NOTHING wrong with feeling as you do.

they have no right in saying you arent normal. just tell them to stop because its rude and its unfair. what if everyone liked bananas but one person. no one can call that person odd or abnormal because they dont liek bananas. its the same concept.
perhaps they think that they are playing?maybe
if you are abnormal than im not from earth because i dont like what everyone else likes. yeah sure babies are cute and fun but, does a baby fetch? no. does a baby become your best friend even when you forget to feed it? no, it cries. does a baby have fluffy fur? no. its bald. there are so many things different.
you are entitled to your opinion and it just so happens you think animals are cuter than babies. so what? some people like animae(spelling?) some people liek news? is either abnormal? no they have different prefrences.
if its really bugging you tell them how you feel and explain to them everyone is different, no one like the same things adn try the banana or the news example. my best friend hates news, im on the journalism team. we are still best friends.
and dont worry there are so many people i know that think animals beat babies by a couple miles, not just one!

ADD:ooohhhh, i just cmae up with an idea. next time they tell you that you arent normal ask them what normal is. the truth is there is no such thing as normal. everyone is different. so, if everyone is different how can there be a normal? and tell them you cant define normal by what you eat, wear, where you live or sleep, religion, hobbies, you know basically they wont have an answer. and if the they dont then laugh in their faces like this:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! :D
ok so you dont have to laguh in their faces but, it would make you feel sooooo much better about your win of the "normal or abnormal argument". oh ant then tell them they arent perfect either so why should you be?
ok that perfect part isnt such a good idea. but, i like to fight sometimes adn i get carried away really easy, not my fault.

It doesn't mean that you are crazy. Genetics play a big part in how people look. Some babies are cuter than others, but animals, being a different species, we all know what they are going to look like when they become adults. Besides animals don't require as much attention as a child. I have 3 children and 2 cats. At least I don't get an argument from my pets.(I love my kids regardless.)

I find animals cuter than babies because they don't scream like wild cats in heat 24/7 and parents are stupid enough to bring their damn baby at the movie theaters too... so I don't blame you at all.
You're normal--but define normal for me. Isn't normal from a human perspective? If so, I find you completely normal. Your family must be freaking crazy if they love to judge other people. You can't change them and they can't change you so let me tell you what to do: Ignore what they say.
There's no way to convince them unless you have a civilized talk with them such as: "Well I don't appreciate your point of perspective therefore you have no right to judge who I am and what I tend to like." Of course superiority complex among the family is understandable so there's a 80% probability you're going to let them get to you.
The other 20% is that after you read this--you'd storm into your parent's area, kick down their door out of anger.

Nothing wrong with you at all. That is perfectly normal. I think kittens are way cuter than any human baby I've ever seen! Ignore your family, they can't choose your tastes for you. Some people grow up to be doctors and some vets. There is no shame in liking animals more than humans. You are probably a very kind person and that needs no apologies to anyone! Just be yourself!

Nothing wrong with that...not many people bond with OTHER peoples babies. It'd be different if the child was your own...the bonding would be more natural. I dislike other peoples kids but love my own even when they are being difficult to love.
Cats/animals are easy because they arent very hard work, with little responsibility....and fluffy/cute...whats not to love. Im sure if the cat meowed, hissed and peed on your leg all the time...you'd not bond well with the animal either...you'd have it put down. :)

I feel the same way. I have absolutely no desire to interact with human babies. Ignore your family. A lot of people have trouble understanding feelings that aren't their own. You're perfectly normal and not at all inhumane.

Most animals are cuter than babies. I'm sorry to say this but I think human babies aren't really cute. They get cuter when they're older. This is coming from someone who had two babies.

Let's face it. Humans are more interesting, but we're not better looking.
