Yes, they have to stay there if they are across the pond. The reason is simple you can not let Soldiers and Marines just come home because it is a holiday. There is a war going on. it comes with the life, but trust me the military tries to make it like home. They have the same thanksgiving feast that you find in homes all across America, the MWR tent has the Cowboys game on, and unless your on duty it is a pretty chill day or at least as close to it as you can get in a war zone.

No.....each and all the infantrymen get to return residing house for the day! they arrive residing house that morning....yet they could be lower back that night... each and all the undesirable men behave themselves in honor of our American Traditions, besides the indisputable fact that it is their common purpose to end the yank way of existence! Are you kidding with this question? and to impressive all of it off you ask Why? that's noted as conflict! There are no breaks, there are no holiday trips! those men and females human beings are over there scuffling with to insure you have a Thanksgiving holiday! And for the rights to proceed to attain this interior the years yet to return! and that they do an identical on Christmas too! ************* I study your extra remark and the clarification why a number of the Troops get to return house is the two it labored out that it grew to become into the tip of their excursion...OR they had sufficient time in to be granted a depart....yet those on depart will could return on the time targeted.

yes we stay in iraq for thanksgiving.... for a lot of us though or workload is reduced for the day and our companies may have some sort of festivities to help take our minds off the fact that we are in a warzone. for others though it is just another day at work walking the streets doing patrols or whatever. the dining facilities also try to make a pretty decent meal for all of us to help us celebrate amongst ourselves. the same goes for christmas.... work doesnt stop but we do try to relax a bit that day if at all possible

Don't worry george will be serving his rubber turkey again over there! He always demands combat pay for serving in Iraq! This year he intends on asking for an additional 4000 per month for disability because he cut himself when carving the bird!

YEAH! What is the reason for this?
Are they going to WIN the war this weekend? Think they'll find the WMDs or kill Saddam again?
Not bloody likely!
I think they should get a long weekend off!
BTW when they come home and they're injured, it's a disgrace for the government to ask for their signing bonus back!
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.
To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.
Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.

This is (another) absolute disgrace to our country!
How do they sleep at night???
