I am of Irish heritage and was wondering if anyone had any info on their involvment in the first 2 world wars??? Please no sarcastic remarks about "going back to school" (eventhough it's never a bad idea)... just curious any info would be great!!!

Yes. In WW1 there were many famous regiments from Ireland that served with distinction on the western front,.
In WW2 this was limited to regiments from Northern Ireland but many men from the south signed on in British Regiments.
Also in WW2 there was a huge influx into Britain of workers from Ireland who built the airfields for the R.A.F. and many other major projects such as the Mulberry Harbours for the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944.

Yes the Irished did have many Troops fighting for the Allies in the First World War. In WW2 however Ireland was Allied Neutral (Meaning that they helped and supported the Allies but did not actually fight) so officialy only Troops from North Ireland (Which is actually a part of the UK) though many people who felt strongly abot the war went to North Ireland and fought in the British Army
