As the consort and wife of the Prince of Wales, Camilla legally holds the title and technical rank of Princess of Wales. Due to the fact that this style is so strongly associated with the late Diana, Princess of Wales, she elects, with the Queen's permission, to use the feminine form her husband's subsidiary title, Duke of Cornwall, rather than Princess of Wales. Clarence House has indicated that when Charles accedes the throne it is intended that she will use the title HRH The Princess Consort and as king's wife, she will legally be queen, regardless of whether she uses that title or not.

Camilla is legally the Princess of Wales, as a woman takes her husband's title when she marries him. She chooses not to use the title because it is still so strongly associated with Diana. She instead uses one of Prince Charles's subsidiary titles-the Duchess of Cornwall (in Scotland, she is known as the Duchess of Rothsay).

Camilla is Princess of Wales, but she choses to be known as The Duchess of Cornwall out of respect to Diana. Camilla is very aware that to many people, Diana will always be The Princess of Wales, and she the woman who broke up the marriage of Charles and Diana. So she has wisely chosen to use another af her husband's numerous titles,to be known as;she automatically became Princess of Wales upon her marriage and wiill become Queen Consort when her husband ascends the throne;she has just chosen a different courtesy title to claim as her own moniker.

Technically Camilla IS Princess of Wales as she is married to the Prince of Wales. However in order to avoid upsetting people who remember Diana fondly, she decided to take another of her husband's titles (Duke of Cornwall) and be known as the Duchess of Cornwall instead. However, Princess of Wales remains a title she can legally use.

Technically, she is Princess of Wales, she's just decided to use another of her titles as the title "Princess of Wales" is still associated too closely with Diana.

It is a well known fact that Camilla is not well liked by many of the British People, and even less by some parties in Buckingham Castle itself, one of those people being The Queen. Elizabeth had been planning to step down from the throne, enabling Charles to become King, however, after the Diana Tragedy, things changed. On the Queens' 80th Birthday, (I believe), she reaffirmed that she will not step down and will remain on the throne as long as she lives. When Charles married Camilla, if you watched the ceremony, Elizabeth did NOT go to the wedding. She was seen only at the evening reception, and that was as far as it went for Camilla. Rumour has it that the Queen has now announced that it is not Charles who will be the next Ruler, and that William (Dianas' oldest son) will be King. Rumour also has it, that there is trouble in paradise for Charles and Camilla, and the reason for that trouble is that Camilla is upset that she is not liked, and she had planned on being queen of England. "If" the rumours are true, there could be another divorce in the family, and William definitely will be King.
Camilla has never been well-liked by the British People, and the best word is "she will never be queen"

camilla herself didn't chose to have the title ''Princess of wales''. She just chose one of her titles, ''Duchess of Cornwall'', to be her official title. this is a first in the history of the princesses of wales.

According to Wikipedia, Camilla is legally the Princess of Wales. However, in an effect to deflect public criticism, the Crown has decided to refer to her as the "The Duchess of Cornwall".

To lessen confusion.
She is legally the princess of wales, just so many people think of Diana when they hear that she doesn't go bye it. Also, it helps her be more accepted if she isn't taking "Diana's" name.
