hello i am wondering if there is any way i can tell whether my ferret has been spayed, short of bringing her to the vet. thanks sarah

If you got your ferret from a pet store she should have been spayed already. Most pet store ferrets are Marshall's ferrets and they spay before shipping them out. Look on her ears if she has a tattooed dot on her her ear it indicates she is Marshall's and has been spayed. Otherwise it is very hard to tell. You defiantly need to find out as females who are not spayed stay in heat until they are bred and if not bred may become anemic.

In many places, ferrets are neutered or spayed before adoption b/c this is the law. You should be able to get this information from the person/place where you got your pet.
Unspayed female ferrets can get life-threatening health problems & unaltered males have an extremely strong odor.

There is no real way of telling, untill she comes into season.
None of my ferrets have been altered and unlike these idiotes seem to think, none of my ferrets are aggressive

Where did you get her from? If she's from a petstore then she has been spayed. If it's from a reputable breeder then she should have already been spayed as well. Talk to whoever you got the ferret from and they can tell you.

the only thing i know of that my vet said, is aggressivness, if they have not been then it will be very aggressive. Mine has been fixed and he is the sweetest ferret i have ever seen, everyone is amazed at how nice he is especially with my kids, but you have to discipline him when he starts to bite by hissing at it while holding the scruff of its neck.. GOOD LUCK
