There isn't a 'reason' people are against breastfeeding in public in my opinion, it's just a feeling they get. Are there websites devoted to this, I would only hope not! Lots of people on Yahoo Answers are against it, that's for sure, so type in breastfeeding in public into the search for questions box and you should get plenty of hits. You'll hear the 'I dont want to see that' remark but then why did you have all the outrage about the picture of a baby nursing (in which you only see the baby's face and what you can assume is the side of his mother's breast) on the front of a baby magazine? Didn't want to see a baby? I don't want to see the underwear of teenage boys sticking out over their pants, or buttcracks on girls who think it's fashionable to wear low riding jeans, or all heaps of things I see everyday. What do I do, LOOK AWAY. Not hard. People should try it, it works.

I hope in your conclusion you are going to state how unfounded, prudish and in general ignorant people are being when they are against breastfeeding in public. How as a society we need to move past these bizarre anti-breastfeeding sentiments and get in touch with what matters... feeding a hungry baby when and where that baby might be. Not smothered under a blanket, not hiding out in a car, but wherever that mother and child is. There are laws to protect breastfeeding mothers, specifically saying they can breastfeed in public without covering up. Hopefully one day we'll look back and realise how ridiculous we were to make this such a debate.

P.S. Honestly, would you really want to eat in a bathroom stall? How many of us would be comfortable doing this??? Just gross. Why do people even suggest this as an option. Scary to me, truly is.

The Politics of Breastfeeding by Gabrielle Palmer.

I have to say that I fed both my children for a long time in public, one to 20 months and the other to 22 months. It was some time ago, before many other people did the same. My children are now almost 13 and almost 10. I had no problems. Nobody said anything or paid any attention.

i've got been pointing out precisely what that article says for a on a similar time as now. i've got faith that aside from somewhat bit immunity from the mum interior the initiating breastfeeding does not have as many "ups" as anyone retains attempting to push on new mothers. I propose, my mom had 6 little ones all formulation fed and we are all wholesome, happy, smart, etc. I chosen to formulation feed our daughter so as that i ought to proportion the journey of feeding her along with her daddy. She has a wholesome attachment to the two one human beings now, no longer in easy terms me. i do no longer bash breastfeeding, yet have been bashed for formulation feeding. in my opinion, its as much as the mum and dad to choose for no remember if or no longer they want to breastfeed or no longer and neither has lots of an benefit over the different. As mothers, we'd desire to consistently no longer be placed down for the milk we choose for to supply our toddlers, rather, each and every mom could say, "i'm so happy which you discovered a fashion that works for you" and circulate on in case you do no longer agree. to each their very own!

I agree, im not against breastfeeding in public, but they made those covers for a reason. I feel like every lady should have the right to breastfeed, but i feel also that every person should have the right not to see that. I agree with the person who said that when people stare they are called perves. Its like looking at something you dont want to see but not being able to take your eyes off it because its something your not used to seeing.

There are many websites to find info from. Best bet you be go to google and type in some things and see what comes up. Just put in key words or phrases.

I'm sure if you do a search you'll find some.

Maybe I'll start a site on why I'm against bottle feeding in public.

I wouldn't say I'm against it.. but I wouldn't be comfortable showing myself off to a bunch of strangers. I would go somewhere private, like a bathroom stall, and breastfeed. But listen to some of the other suggestions and do some searches.

how rude of melissa, bottle feeding is different, i dont think anyone is against breatfeeding but if people have the decency to cover it up that might be nice.. If someone had a pimple on there face its hard not to stare same with breast feeding and then when you do happen to look you get called a perve... cover it up geez
