What you want is so easy to do on a desktop PC but next to impossible on a laptop. There are NO retail graphics cards for laptops. A few gaming laptops have a dedicated graphics card on a slot but the upgrade option is a proprietary card. IBM Thinkpads are business notebooks, not gaming PCs, thus no option for graphics upgrade.

You can't upgrade video cards in laptops. The reason being that 99% of all video cards for laptops are actually integrated into the motherboard itself, this along side others like the wireless NIC, modems, ext. To completely replace the motherboard is impractical, costly, and in the end it would be a lot better to just buy a new laptop.
