I have respect for many here. It's rare that i have a bad thing to say about anyone in the section whether i agree with them or not. . The only ones i have no respect for is those who try to ruin things for everyone else here like the dorks of the world or those who take the board too seriously & report people for congratulating a team. Reasons like that are why i don't come here like i used to.

Yes, yes I do. I don't agree, however, with the idea that someone who has been on the site longer than others is worthier of praise. The argument proposed here that some people cut and paste their answers is a good one. To the degree that they are 'knowledgeable', cutting and pasting is computer savvy, not baseball knowledge. These people are given way to much credit for 'wisdom'. At the same time, many of these people ARE knowledgeable about baseball, as there commentary shows. Chipmaker ISN'T very knowledgeable, but certainly Craig S. is. There are MANY very knowledgeable people who are never mentioned. pricehillsaint is such a person.
All that being said, the discussion is totally meaningless anyway. I like to talk baseball. I like to speculate and try to dredge up memories and facts and stuff like that. I am able to do that here. The ones who are better than others are the ones I enjoy. I ignore the rest. Talking personalities here is not what I'm here for. I respect these people -- even the less competent ones -- as long as the subject is baseball.

I try to respect everyone in all situations, even when they have shown they may not deserve it.
I don't respect answers which are just opinions; give some reasons or be still. I don't have a lot of respect for opinions which throw out evidence. And I have more respect for better stats such as OPS+, runs created, or batting wins than to just rely on BA, RBI, or stolen bases.
I have a very hard time respecting any answer which claims that either Pete Rose or Roberto Clemente were the best player of all time...favorite is fine, but there's not a shred of evidence to make that as an argument.
And I don't respect the "So-so and sucks!" type of answers.

This is a very good site for those that love the game of baseball, the casual fan, and all of those that would like to know more about the game. There are a handful of extremely knowlegeable responders that consistently provide informed responses all of us can learn from. These same people ask questions that challenge all of us to respond in such a way that most everyone will benefit from the knowledge of others when reading the responses. Younger fans and those wanting to know/learn more about the game also make very good contributions and their honest desire to expand their knowledge can be seen in their responses to questions asked. I am amazed at the number of female responders on this site, such as yourself, and their knowledge of the game. There are also a handful that have nothing to say but are otherwise harmless and can be ignored. This now brings me to the downside of this open forum where there are always a few that do everything they can to rip a good thing apart. The most recent being $C-Note$, gosuleague, michael victorious, mocktober, yee haw, and the fake chipmaker who appear to be all the same person. This is a person that appears to have some knowledge of the game but would rather spend most of his time insulting, imitating, intimidating, and otherwise tearing down a good thing. I have no compassion for a person like this who is not willing to play nicely with the other kids on the block. The good news is that he will someday get tired of this and move on to harass others which people with a mentality like this usually do.

c$not, either you're opening yourself up for a libel suit or you're sufficiently naive to be taken in by the obnoxious "chipfaker" who has been running rampant, abusing my reputation, and whom Y!A Staff appears unwilling or incapable of doing anything about. (In the link provided, mine is the very first answer, which is short and to the point, and all original composed text. Read on.)
I DO NOT CUT AND PASTE, boychild. My material is original, and I DARE you to find my complete (or significant portions thereof) text, to any question, anywhere else on the entire Web with a provable earlier posting date. Hint: you cannot do this, because that's not what I do. Maybe you are projecting your own methodology and mental defense mechanisms, I don't know nor care, as you are not my problem, but you are BEING a problem, much like a boil in need of lancing.
You just cannot accept the depth and diversity of this writer's expertise and knowledge in matters regarding professional baseball, can you? I do use Google but rarely -- very rarely -- for baseball. I know where to look for information -- when I need to, which is sometimes but not often -- and when it comes to my beloved sport, frankly Google merely gets in the way.
Get over yourself and GET OFF MY CASE, you miserable little swine virus, and include all your Sybilesque inner voices as well. I've had more than enough of your used horse food. You want to take it personal, as you've clearly now made it? Pushing aside that bantering over Web-based forum reps is, well, stupid -- but noting you started this, that's the measure of quality to be expected -- how do you want to settle this? I'll be glad to stomp you into the carpeting, peanut, if it will SHUT YOU UP and shut you down, because by the gods you've gone far past the line, and I will gladly, GLADLY, push you over the cliff and onto the sharp stones below. If I've sometime stepped on your toes, I may as well finish the job and tromp on your metaphysical neck as well.
Grow up. Sooner is preferred.
I view contributors in five generalized rankings, without a fixed distribution, but it would well-fit a typical bell curve:
Admire
Enjoy & appreciate
Tolerate
Disregard
Dismiss
Now, I add a new one with unique membership:
Despise

Typically I do, and believe the 'top contributors' are all well deserving.
However, in recent weeks, it has become the source of trolls and I have never blocked so many people (and been blocked as well) as I had in the many other months.
(see first answer for definition of trolling)
I have more respect for people that are objective rather than people than see only one team.
