You're thinking about the Berlin Wall, which separated Capitalist West Berlin from the Communist East Berlin during the Cold War.

The fall of the Berlin Wall occurred in 1989, which also marked the symbolic end of the Cold War in Europe and the reunification of Germany.

The currency they use in Germany is the Euro €.

Berlin is an expensive place to live, but not as bad as the other European capitals of London, Paris, and Rome. Rent is about €1500 for a one bedroom apt, and real estate is actually cheaper than other European cities.

Hope this helps,
Peace.

The Soviet Union had taken part of Germany after WW2 and put up the Berlin wall. The Germans were in two different countries. As the Soviet Union weakened, the Germans pushed down the wall an reunited.

They use the Euro. Germany is one of the most economically strong countries in the world. Yes it is expensive to live there but Japan is even more expensive.

After WWII, Germany was split into two parts. East Germany was occupied by the Soviets and West Germany was occupied by western Europe and America. Berlin is a city in the eastern part of Germany. The city was split in two. Part of it was controlled by the Soviets and part by western Germany. In the early '60s, the Soviets closed the borders of Eastern Germany to the west and built a wall separating their section of Berlin from free Berlin.

In the summer of 1989 Soviet style communism in eastern Europe began to fail. Eastern Germany opened it's borders in the autumn of that year, for several days people were crossing back and forth between the east and west, crowds gathered at the wall and then suddenly the people started tearing the wall down.

Germany currently uses the Euro for it's money.

You have got to be kidding. How poor is the history education in your part of the world? Google search BERLIN WALL and then smack yourself in the face a couple times.
