I wouldnt get my hopes up on acquiring Johann until close to the trading deadline. I think the Twins will hold on to him until then to see if they are in the running for the central division.

Also, rumor is that they are trying to sign him and are working on a contract similiar to Carlos Zambranos. The Twins have a new stadium coming and may be able to backload the deal.

If there was even a chance the Yankee would be able to get Santana the TWINS would make them pay through the nose. There would be no way the TWINS organization would give away a future hall of famer to the the NY Yankees for less than 3 rotation ready pitchers and 1 if not 2 fielders..PERIOD. If you think any differently you are fooling your self. The TWINS know that the yankees are in BADDD shape in the starting pitching dept and would take everything they can from them and if the Yankees (or anyone else) say no then the worst thing that can happen is..the TWINS are stuck WITH JOHAN SANTANA ALL YEAR!!! That's not too bad if that's you're worst case scenario!

Well, the Twins have a good youngster Alexi Casilla in their system that they feel will be very good at second base. That eliminates Cano. Now that they delt Torri Hunter, they need a outfielder. So one person they want is Melky Cabrera. They also want a good pitcher prospect so they probally would want someone big. Since Huges Chamberland, and Kenndy are untouchables, you have to go with the next best pitcher, that would be Alan Horne. He is a bright young pitcher you dont hear of to much. The third person they would want would be a prospect outfielder. It could be anyone. I think it could be Jose Tababa. He has shown bright signs of being good. Those are the three people i think its going to take to make a deal.

if Yanks fans think they can get Santana and keep Hughes, Kennedy and Chamberlain then you are sadly mistaken. Minnesota will get more players than Florida will for Cabrera. You owuld have to give up 2 of the 3 pitchers and Cano. I don't know why people want to throw Melky in. I mean he's decent but not a player people are lining up to get. Plus they already offered Hughes and Cabrera for Peavy and were immediately told no.

I would not assume they will get Santana. Sure they can afford his money, but it would be a trade...........and in a trade you can't just buy a guy, you have to give something up to get him. The Yankee farm system seems to be a bit improved but still not what it used to be so they may not be able to be the highest bidder (talent-wise for trade purposes) which means they may not be able to get him. It's all about who gives up the most talent in a trade, not just who will pay the player the most money.

Hold on to Chien Ming Wang, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy and Mariano. EVERY OTHER PITCHER IN THE FARM SYSTEM CAN GO TO GET JOHAN SANTANA. Think about it. Thats a solid rotation for 10-15 years and all you have to worry about is a closer and 2 relievers with that pitching.

Let's put it this way, if I were the Twins at minimum I would want:

- Cano and
- Cabrera and
- Hughes or Chamberlain

If the Yankees offered me anything less than that, we'd have nothing to talk about.

I dont believe that the yankees will get him i believe the Red Sox will they have better players to trade, and are more interested in pitching than the yanks.
