Hairiest People

Being Half East Indian, and black, I would have to say that Indians COULD be the hairiest race (but there is really no such thing as race). Why do I say this? Because, I'm 14, growing a beard (more of chin hair), and have a small moustache and my legs are beginning to get very hairy....Even my mom said that Indians were very hairy, and SHE'S Indian.

Some odd answers here! The Ainu of Japan are noted for their hairyness, not because they are the hairiest people in the world, but because they are much hairier than other Japanese people. You will rarely find east Asians (Japanese, Chinese, or Korean people) who can grow full, thick beards and have noticeable body hair.

Someone said Native Americans. It is a characteristic of Native Americans that they are the least hairy people in the world. Most NA men do not need to shave their faces. This comes from their east Asian ancestry.

We cannot use terms like "Asians" to describe racial characteristics. Asian groups include Caucasian, Mongoloid, and Neo-Melanesian people. The hairiest people are Caucasians. People of India, Pakistan, and the Middle Eastern countries are Caucasian, and as one person observed, the hair protects skin from the sun and its heat. It also protects from the cold.

Logically, you'd expect people with fairer skin who live further north to be far hairier; and while that might be true- that isn't my experience.

For whatever reason, the ethnic group that seems to have the most hair are those around the mediterranean sea (Italians, Spanish, Semetic people {Arabs and Hebrews} and Greeks). Probably all Roman, Greek and Phoenicians who colonized the area helped this ubiquitous hair.

I'm no expert, but the hairiest I've heard of are the Ainu (the indigenous people of Japan) They were known as the hairy people. They have both characteristics of both European and Asians but are more closer to Europeans in characteristics although they do look Asiatic. I've seen them on 60 Minutes.
