At 36 weeks your baby is about as developed as it's going to get. At this stage, the baby starts gaining a pound a week, and may have some lung immaturity, but most hospitals will give you some steroids to combat that. Good luck!

I had my daughter at 36 weeks and she was fine, just a little thin. Your baby is developed enough that all it needs to do those last 4 weeks is gain weight. Some babies do, however, have immature lungs. If that is the case, they will give you and/or the baby a shot. It is no big deal. Babies are being born much earlier than that and making it. Don't worry. Babies know when they are ready to get here. Rather than worrying, focus on what a joyous event is about to occur and what a special and wonderful person you are about to welcome into your life!

Yes, its totally safe to have the baby at 36 weeks. I wouldn't want be induced, unless there was reason to be.
I was 34 weeks pregnant and got the flu really bad. Nothing worse than trying to bend over the toilet with a big ol' belly LOL. Anyways my water ended up breaking and I had my baby 14 hours later. She was absolutely perfect and healthy weighing in at 5lbs and 14ounces! She just turned 11 months and just gets more beautiful everyday! I love being a mommy! CONGRATS!!

If your doctor says it is safe, it is. You don't really have a say in this; in other words, you can't tell the baby to wait to be born for a few more weeks. When mother nature calls the baby out, it comes out. God bless nature and having babies. Don't be so concerned about this happy event; just follow the doctor's lead, and you will do fine.
And when you get home, this baby will be fine with you as a mother. Enjoy this little one, but don't short change your happiness by worrying. Babies have been around forever and most of us learn as we go. Just love them, hug them and hold them. God bless.

It's pretty safe, but the baby should still stay in the womb as close to 40 weeks as possible. So, if you were to go into labor, your baby should be fine, although you shouldn't induce labor unless there is a real reason to.
