If it is one time, just smile and ignore. If it is persistent then you may have to make some long term arrangement.

First of all ....give them the evil eye and say nothing. That kinda throws people off, they don't know what the look was really about...evil or scared. People hate not knowing the facts.
Give a few days...then stair at something like there feet or ears, while they're dissing...right. then walk away...give people the creeps...
Once again they will wonder ..hmm, maybe not show it. But trust their thinking.
"Always look for something crappy about them" make something up if u have to.
Something that u know will shame them....
If that doesnt work..wear a black trench coat the next time u stair at them without speaking...remember to walk away.

A) Turn to those rude clasmates of yours and say, "Hey guys, you know I'm listening, right?" (the "Hey guys" is optional.)
B) Do the same thing.
C) Two options. 1. Polite: "Who are you talking about?" (the "friends" act suspicious and say, "oh, ah, someone..." you say,) You weren't talking about me, by any chance, were you? (If this is confirmed, insult them in your own fashion.)
2. Impolite: "Stop calling me a loser, you retarded-looking baboon."
I really like number C) 2. A lot. You're right, ignoring them never works, I don't know why people keep saying that.

You have to let them see that you can be cool, and not flustered.
You have to let them see that NOTHING fazes you.
Be friends with one of the cool kids.
It's hard to say. Here's my story: I was bullied when I was in the 9th grade. It was horrible at Physical Education time.
One day, just by accident, I knocked one of the bullies with a ball---right in her face! Let me tell you, I was terrified. Her friends all turned around and demanded..DEMANDED..to know who threw the ball. I stepped up and admitted to the deed.
To this date, I didn't know exactly what transpired in their demented little heads, but they never bullied me again after that incident. GO FIGURE!

I'd find new friends for starters. Then when they start insulting you, tell them "I love you too!"
Or" oh I love it when you talk to me like that!"
Or"you're ugly and your granny dresses you funny".
Or, "thats ok, I'll remember you in prayer, you need GOD'S help to be a decent human being!"
