Bribe or no bribe! Rule of law prevails in this country. To say that this 19 years old woman is being forced to marry any person against her free will it self amounts to a valid objection that can be raised during 30 days notice period that has to be given before the Marriage officer perform any such marriage under the Special Marriage Act,1954. You can go & file such written objection in the court of the Marriage officer in the district where this woman is being taken for such a marriage, on the basis of this objection it will be the legal duty of the marriage officer to inquire the contents of the objection before he gives his accent to such a marriage. The marriage officer has legal powers to inquire & take evidence under the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code for any such issues, he will definitely ask this woman if such marriage is being preformed against her free will/wish or not, if this woman states that she is being forced to sign all the papers regarding this marriage, notice, affidavits, etc against her wish by force inflicted by her father, then the marriage officer will refuse to perform such marriage & he may even complain against her father for any such illegal act for necessary & suitable action against her father. In no way the Marriage Officer avoid such an objection as any such avoidance can be appealed with the District Court which can pass order against performing such a marriage by the Marriage Officer. During all this period of hearing of the objections by the marriage officer or the district court this marriage will not be preformed.

well i am sorry but i dont think anyone can force a 19 yr old into forced marriage or even keep under house arrest.
if she really wanted u she could have easily escaped or atleast be adamant not to do what the parents say. if u trust her so much u take police from your city, tell them your story, take them to her village and tell his father u have come to take your would be wife and that she is 19 and she can take her decisions. see if she is ready to walk out with you. my cousin did the same thing what i am writing and the girl just walked out as the police was there the father couldnt do anything and now they are happily married and facing no problem from any side. both sides have accepted their marriage.

there are many actions to take dude,
u can stop her marriage by being the only one who refuses, but that should take a lots of courage! u can refuse it by a legal and logic reason, that she doesnt want to marry that other guy!
or, u can still stick to her parents and show them how much u love her and the vice-versa. if u kept nagging around them and make ur best it COULD work.
or, u can meet her parents with all do ur respect, and talk to them in a reasonable way, if u are intelligent and smart u CAN convince them by ur own way?!
hope u make it dude, and if u really want her, do ur best, and am sure that u CAN DO IT!!

Unless your girl friend is living in Bihar or UP, what you narrate appears to be very improbable.
It also appears that you do not have courage to go and get your friend back.
You may consider approaching the High Court by filing a Writ Petition. If what has been narrated by you is true, you will get immediate orders.

This is a tricky one! You are going to have to leave right away and take her away from her family and get married as soon as you can. Are your parents supportive of all of this? It is going to be too late if you wait and take legal action - he might force her into a marriage with someone.

I wouldn't normally recommend this but this girl needs to make an escape plan and put it into action fast! She's being held prisoner for christ sake. She's in a situation that she cannot get out of unless she escapes. I feel so bad for her. I never heard of this.

You have not mentioned whether the girl belongs to your community or not!
You have just started your adult life.Your obligations to your parents are immedite and urgent ones.
Those who could not difefrentiate between "love" and "infatuation"only fall in such traps.
Just as you have obligations to your parents, you are obliged to save the honour of the girl's parents too.
