Yes it is. Both movies are based upon the book by Richard Matheson entitled "I Am Legend". The Omega Man is also inspired by the book. Of the older two, the Vincent Price movie is closest to the book. A great read, by the way. A classic. Although the trailers I've seen for the new movie seem far afield from the book, I am still eagerly waiting for its release.
