I saw the show w/my wife last night, and she got mostly wasteful, foreign made, products for her fan base, plus all the sales engorgement that her show creates for the products - the soap was a good thing, though, as at least it wasn't made in China.

How about giving away solar powered items, or made in USA items or CFL bulbs or something? I know, hard to look free cool stuff in the mouth, I'm a part-troll for that, and she's a generous, intelligent person - but that should come with some responsibility. If she can support a pres. candidate, can't she be a better example at the same time?

Why not better our situation with your power, Oprah?

As far as Obama is concerned, she's a mixed blessing - maybe cement power with some voters, maybe alienate others. It's a wash.

Her backing could also be a detriment also. Among men Oprah is not that popular. Her main base is women of all political venues and her influence works great on selling books or promoting the likes of a Dr. Phil. Will it work for politics though? Hillary and Obama both have their solid base supporters. Will Oprah pull the majority of independent women voters over to Obama? I'm not so sure.

Every little bit helps. Let's be real. Hillary has a lot of star power in her camp as well. The only difference I see is in the commitment of star's like Oprah to back Obama beyond fundraising. Oprah has said on many occasions that she would assist by going on the campaign trail to support Obama. No other high powered star has matched that committment for any candidate!

The only thing that will push Obama over the top is if he rips Hillary a new one. He needs to get tough, and stop worrying about about the consequences.

Well she got that idiot Dr. Phil his own TV show and his own celebrity status, and she gave that insufferable Rachael Ray the "push" that gave Ray her own TV show, magazine, and tabloid-worthy celebrity status.

If she can do that to those two horrid people with no talent, then I'm sure she can find a way to get a smart, nice guy like Obama anything he wants.

I hope that it helps him. I would pay a lot to be a fly on Hillary's wall should she lose Iowa or New Hampshire to Obama. Then of course I could be squooshed by flying furnture.
