can anyone give me a good estimate on how long it would take a normal UPS truck (on ground, of coarse) to get from the santee area in california to the houston area of texas?, you see, i recently bought somthing over ebay, the maxiumum time it can take to get here is 6 days, the minimum being 2, the seller said the same thing, that the longest it would get here is friday (she recieved payment on the 19th, monday), but the UPS website is telling me the 26th of november, i know somthing is wrong and i am wondering if anyone could just give me a little number estimating the days it would require

Thanks!!!, and have a happy thanksgiving!

thanks for all the awnsers, but im afraid i must disagree with you , see, when i sent my payment on saturday last week, the buyer recived it on monday, where she thought she would recieve it on wensday, so i cant POSSIBLY believe that the package will arrive any later than saturday, counting the "off" day on thanksgiving

This is the very beginning of the heaviest shipping season of the year.

If I didn't receive the merchandise by November 26, then I would put a tracer on the shipment.

You need an airbill, bill of lading or "pro" number to do the tracing.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Hate to tell you this, but UPS's estimate is the best one there is.

You do know that the way UPS makes their money is in logistics, right? They have local deliveries from a hub, then they have regional hubs. Your package got picked up from a local delivery person and delivered to the local hub. A larger truck takes it to a regional hub. An 18-wheeler takes it between hubs and then the package is sent to your local hub and finally distributed to a local delivery truck.

UPS (and FedEx and the USPS) do a fantastic job of combining packages to make them more affordable to send. It amazes me that they can track every single package and have the data available to anyone who knows to ask.

We are entering the busiest season for package delivery and things can take longer. It is also six business days. Saturday, Sunday and Thanksgiving don't count! It could arrive as late as the 28th!!

good luck!

ps - why is this in renting and real estate?

You are at the mercy of UPS. I don't know where you got these max and min shipping rates, I've been shipping items by UPS for 10 years from ebay auctions and have not received any specific delivery date.

It is getting to be UPS's big season with gifts being shipped, so wherever you got these quotations may not be accurate.

You and the seller are counting business days and are forgetting that Thursday is thanksgiving, thus not a business day. UPS is telling you the truth.
