I don't know... I think we are the last semi-capitalist nation in the 1st world, so if we loose that (even more than we already have) what can we do?

I think my best bet would be to 'rebel' in some way against the government (as stupid as it sounds), a Democratic congress + Democratic president is the end to a half-way decent American economy.

If the candidate I don't support is elected I won't leave the country. The great thing is that I know in 4 years we have the chance to change leadership peacefully--that is without blood shed in the streets.

This also gives us the ability to look back and re-evaluate our opinions of previous presidents. When Harry Truman left office he had an approval rating of only 23%. Yet, he is considered to be one of the US' greatest presidents. It was unpopular to integrate the military, but he did it. He lost the New Hampshire primary during his re-election bid and decided to drop out of the race.

We also don't live in a country that is controlled solely by the executive branch of the government. If our newly elected president is perceived as being too far out of touch with the people we can elect representatives to balance that out. It happened during the Clinton and Bush administrations.

No, I think I will stay put.

Your question isn't authorized by potential of fake information who're the respected vendors of Republican speaking factors. fake information does not approve "if Obama gets elected" questions because they do no longer renowned the danger that Obama would be elected. for this reason, please ask your question lower back after the election of Barack Obama as President of usa. perhaps at that factor there must be a contingency plan for all individuals who want to betray their American historical past by potential of leaving usa.

I'll probably retain my US citizenship, but I was planning on some extended foreign travel anyway, so I probably won't be directly affected by the damage she does.

If she starts a small nuclear war, Costa Rica or New Zealand looks promising. The Cayman Islands would be pretty secure if she decides to seize all private wealth, though even now the IRS is checking all amounts of $10,000 or greater leaving the country, and banks are required to report all "suspicious transactions" (check with your friendly neighborhood tax attorney).

The presidency isn't quite as important as Congress though. Congress alone can initiate spending bills, all the president can do is sign or recommend spending. If the President and Congressional majority are on opposite, our liberty is relatively safe.

And leave the USA to the Mexicans to ruin? I don't think so. This is my country, and I am sticking with it. We have the First Amendment, and nothing can bring us down, not even Hillary 'Big-But' Rodham-Clinton. Vote for Obama, he is the most honest of the entire bunch on both sides.
