Try going to bed and getting up a little earlier. Eat something with protein for breakfast such as eggs or meat. Since you are up a little earlier, get in a little exercise. Take a quick walk or job. This will help get the blood pumping and make you more alert to start the day!

Get some sleep the night before. Even if its an extra hour, it helps.
Well, not really, but that's what they say.
I eat a big breakfast to keep my energy up. Before class, eat a snack bar or something to get the 'blood flowing.'
Also, challenge yourself to listen to whatever the hell the teacher is saying for the entire period instead of doodling or daydreaming. The class period goes by a lot faster, even if you actually had to listen.

If you have a friend or someone sitting by you is particularly understanding, ask them to poke you if they see you nodding off. Scared the crap out of me when a tablemate did that, was WIDE awake for the rest of the class, lol. Now I'm paranoid and don't have as much trouble with staying awake....

that used to happen to me. Fell asleep every day in my 8:00 class. One day I woke up to hearing my prof. rant about people who are on student loans and just sleep in class...
Most logical thing to do is go to sleep earlier or take naps during the day. The going to sleep early thing isn't exactly practical though.
You may need to drop that class and take it again at a later time another term.

I think it's because you don't have enough sleep.
Try and sleep earlier, and eat a good breakfast.
Also, eating a peppermint helps you to concentrate even in the most boring situation.
Hope this helps!

Go to bed earlier. Aim for about 10 hours of sleep, that ought to do it.

Have you tried Speed? LOL Seriously, a grande latte should help. Also, get more sleep, have a healthier diet, and exercise more.

You should probably stay up all night and do lines of coke until your nose bleeds. I doubt that you will get any sleep in first period.
