Personal opinion - Pea coat or Car coat?

Question

I just wanted input on this subject. I'm an Asian male around 5'4", so I'm pretty short.

I was thinking of getting a slightly lengthy black wool coat. Either a pea coat or a car coat.

I want it to go past the waist, but not so long it trails behind me like I'm dodging bullets in The Matrix.

I don't want any huge collar around my neck (although I think it depends on the brand of the coat, regardless of what type).

I'm afraid if it's too long it was shorten my height by making me look like a midget (more than I am right now), but not so short it's like a jacket.

I also want something that isn't too loose. Not that I want it to be skin tight, but not baggy nor too stiff. It should fit around my rather slender arms but be able bend with motion.

So I don't want it too make me look I'm enclosed in a steel cylinder when it's buttoned up. No nutcracker style figure. Flowy, but with definite form.

What do you think?

for those who aren't familiar with car coats, they're cut at the mid-thigh around, and aren't quite as stiff as the peacoats.

i much prefer pea coats and i think they look nice on men, especially those of the asian persuasion. also, pea coats are usually short enough to prevent you from looking like you're 2 feet tall, but long enough to provide warmth.

For the look you want, I'd go with a Pea coat. I like Pea coats, personally. (style, cut) Both males & females wear them. I have a medium gray pea coat but have no reason to wear it now that I'm in the sunny south. I wear hoodies most everyday during these winters here. I love it. :)

I'd go for the car coat. Probably a wider variety of colors. Matching coats with pants can make height illusions in your favor.

i would get the car coat. to me peacoast are a tad bit casual. car coats can dress up or down. they look just as nice with jeans as they do with a nice pair of slacks.

also, you mention you don't want a huge collar, most peacoats, by tradition have big lapels/collars.

pea coat!!! They're coming back in style again and they make them short them now too but past the waist line.
