Hey,

I am 36 years of age, have my bachelors, single, own an home and have some others debts. Financially I am on my own.I am seriously considering going to law school. I live in the Chicago area. Is there any one on here in the same position? If so HONEST, CONSIDERATE thoughts only please.

Thanks

I went to law school 15 years ago. I am 43. There were people in my class older than I am now, and most did fine-some did great. The only drawback to your age would be a family, and you're good there, so go for it. The only thing I would add is to be sure it makes sense financially for you. You may have a good job now. Law school costs an arm and a leg, and you aren't guaranteed a great income when you get out.

My next door neighbor got her law degree when she was 42. That was 20 years ago (she had a bachelor's from when she was younger and spent 3 years post graduate working on the law degree). She specializes in elder law and real estate law.

It can be done, you just have to want it bad enough.

Good Luck.
