The Steelers. They give up the fewest points have the #1 ranked pass defense and #3 run defense.

Statistically, the Steelers have the best defense.

But I believe the best defense is a good offense, so far Pats, Cowboys, Colts. Top 5 offense, top 10 defense. Steelers arent far behind (1st def, 10th offense), but the Pack are closer, 4th in total offense, 12th and improving weekly in defense.

As far as team effort, these are the best defenses, as reflected in their W-L records

honestly, I'd take the Colts - though losing Freeney was a big hit. The Packers are very impressive. I have to pass on the Patriots because they can't be judged accurately (when your team puts up 35 points before the half every week, defense takes on a different meaning). Steelers have looked the best at times, but have been inconsistent.

The Steelers. They give up about 157 pass yards, 72 rush yards, and 14 points per game. They lead the NFL in all 3 of those categories.
