Fake art is art that isn't really art (which doesn't really exist). Forged art is art that is supposed to "be" an already existing piece.

Fake art is a common term, most likely to mean forged or reproduced art. Forged art is a reproduction of a famous painting, or other art, that the forger did not declare as their own. There are reputable reproducers out there who devote themselves solely to copying famous art works, but who declare they copied it. They make far more money than artists who only do their own original art. They are also not artists. They can only forge art, not create it.
