those who say that morality is subjective WILL find out that society HAS a moral code. you WILL be judged and ARE constantly judged whether you like it or not!!!

here in the US of A.

really, is it that hard? have americans become sooooo stupid that they cant figure out morality?

here are some examples:

- sleep with your best friends girl - he will put a cap in your head
- rob the grocery store in the ghetto - the owner is going to grab his gun and put a cap in your head
- lie to the police about raping that chick - you will be put into prison, some huge dude will be your boyfriend, you get out and put a cap in your own head.

see?

morality is easy.

making things subjective is like saying you want coffee and tea together. guess what? it tastes like CR@P!!! make up your mind! that's of course if you have one or think that you have one.

There is a difference between being moral and having moral behavior. Society demands certain acceptable behavior which we call moral behavior. Society punishes unacceptable behavior and rewards acceptable behavior.

But morality is a state of being. It shows itself by doing the right thing for the right reason. The right reason is not fear of punishment nor hope for reward. And by the way, feeling bad, i.e. conscience hurts, is punishment and feeling good is reward. Feelings are motivations but feelings cannot be a moral foundation because feelings are notoriously unstable and therefore unreliable.

Morality has to have a foundation of a higher moral authority than ourselves. Moral individuals voluntarily place their moral decisions under the judgment of a higher moral authority. That higher authority can only be God.

It isn't so important that God tell us what to do for we already know what the right thing to do is. God as our judge holds us to the standard that we have already chosen.

1) Intrinsic - there is an overarching call or drive to moral behavior, and following that leads to the ultimate path of development of the human species.

2) Social - moral behavior provides structure and safety and makes group development more efficient. Less energy is spent on defense and protection and can be directed to social improvements.

3) Religious - Moral behavior is laid down by a divine being, and following that brings us closer to understanding that relationship.

Enough? There are more but that should get you started.

You don't need to be to satisfy any desire or requirements of the Universe - the world will not spin any faster or slower if you personally are moral - but you personally benefit from being moral. Moral means following your conscience and the general conscience of society, the law, being a normally nice, civil, even courteous person, thinking of others, being responsible, etc. The reason that benefits you is two-fold. First, people will like and respect you if you behave that way and that feels good and surrounds you with decent people which provides you with decent company in life. Second, if you're ever going to want to be in love, then it is vital because love requires that you have self-respect. And, contrary to some modern head-up-*** assertions, you do not get self-respect by declaring you are worth it and buying expensive shampoo, you must earn it by your behavior. You must genuinely impress yourself with your good behavior. YOu don't have to go crazy with it, but you can't behave in a way that makes you feel like an ******** either. LOve requires self-respect, so it's vital for that reason.

That's all.

well the first thing that comes to mind is karma, it might be punishable if youre not moral. it most often is, if you rob a bank, you go to jail, if you kill someone but hide the evidence so well you never get caught, your consciouce will eat you up. And if you believe there is an after life, serious moral infractions could sentence you to damnation, or a much lower position in future lives if you believe in reincarnation. So why do you need to - because you will be punished if you dont, or you will fell bad, which is punsihment in itself.

It is not an order to be moral, it is a choice. You can do anything you like but there are consequences and you should be prepared to take them. Morality is relative to many circumstances, it is not an absolute.

Morality: to me describes what goodness or evil that we may pass on in our lives .
I believe that when we give out a pleasant out look on life putting smiles on another's face instead of frowns this is a moral act of love to spread happines insted of hatered.
Peace be with You

You don't. Just look at all the famous, successful, rich people out there. They seem to be getting by just fine without morals.
