You start your birth control right when your period is finished. When your having your period take the sugar pills. Right when your period is done you should take the pills. It's best to do it this way so it does not screw up your cycle and your having your period when your not even on the sugar pills.

You can call your doctor back and they will give you instructions again (don't feel bad, it's what they are there for!). Also, go to the Yaz website. Drug websites now contain a lot of information for patients.

Typically you want to start a new pack of pills after your period stopped.
Then by the time you are on the sugar pills you will have your period...
and thats the cycle.

However you can start the pills any time you want.

You should have directions with the package and you need to follow them or they wont be effective. Most of them say what day to start and that is what you should do.

Either call the pharmacy where you picked it up or call your doctors office tomorrow morning.
