Gosh, where does one begin? Germany's economy was in the pisser when Hitler came to power--over 6 million people unemployed. Hitler was considered by many to be too extreme in his views about the Jews but his increased popularity was based on the fact that he immediately put millions of unemployed to work. The Jews, by dint of the fact that owning land and many occupations were closed to them, became adept at certain occupations that WERE open to them- like money lending, banking, import/export businesses, jewelers, etc... they worked hard, were often prosperous and bought and sold amongst each other wherever possible. Others saw this exclusivity as evidence that the Jews cared only to advance themselves--they were Jews first and Germans second.
Also, the Jews were linked with the advancement of communism and big-business in the "free world" was scared of communism--it didn't fit in with where they saw the world going. Another factor was Germany's defeat in WWI and the humiliating terms they were forced to accept at the war's end. The Jews in positions of power in the former Weimar Republic were blamed for this defeat and for accepting the terms which required Germany to pay war reparations ($$$) in sums well beyond their means to pay at that time. Also, the Germans were told they were not allowed to maintain a standing army. BUT these reasons and OTHERS (for there are more factors involved) were just a pretext for killing the Jews and stealing all their wealth--money, land, businesses, diamonds, priceless works of art--even the gold from their teeth! Germans wanted more land and wealth, bottom line. They wanted to be on top instead of on bottom. Hope this helps!

Hitler had a very hierarchical view of "races," which was quite common at the time. Many people looked at Jews as inferior and Hitler found they made a good scrapgoat. He thought the lower races (not only Jews but also Poles, Gypsies and Slavs) were using up precious resources and even delibertately preying upon the higher races. The only way the master race could thrive was if they parasites were rooted out and destroyed.

You're going to have to find your own citations. I'm giving you a point in the right direction, not doing your homework.

If you search wikipedia for Hitler, I think it will give you a basic understanding of Hitler and his affect on the world. He had decided that the Jews were a very inferior race, like dogs, and that they should just be done away with. I think it was very very very very horrible, but that is what he thought but if you read his history, I am quite sure he had mental problems early on and you will see his rise to power was a very strange path, he was extremely unpopular in his younger days and in a quirk made it up the ladder, I think !

Hitler wanted to kill the Jews because he was insane. He blamed the Jews for every problem in his life, including his rejection from art school, and he blamed them for Germany's unfair treatment under the Treaty of Versailles.

If you want references, wikipedia has an entire page listing sources about the Holocaust. Here it is:

He was insane and part of his insanity was his hatred of the Jewish people. He blamed them for every problem and he succeeded in murdering at least 6 million of them. He thought that the Germans were a pure "Aryan" race and there is no such thing.
