Do they mean that you should whine, complain, be un-rational, cry about global warming and the war, complain about our president, talk about how we should reason with the terrorists and how they could be our friends while we apply?

The word "liberal" means generous. As a political label it seems to be applied by conservatives to anybody who dares to disagree with them, regardless of their opinions.

Liberals may whine and complain when the conservatives twist their words, assassinate their characters and promote a religion of constantly expanding economies that require unchecked consumption to continue.

Liberals certainly complain about the President. So should true conservatives like myself, who are appalled by the empiric growth of the deficit and the attacks on the checkes and balances in our political system. Every citizen should be appalled by the suspension of habeus corpus for an indefintie period, and the draconian search privileges awarded to government agencies in violation of our Constitution.

I haven't heard a single liberal suggest that we cozy up to the terrorists. I have heard some suggest that we invaded the wrong country in the first place, and that Iraq would have been our most valuable ally in the fight against Iran.

You should not treat fellow citizens with contempt simply because they disagree with you. That is stupid and unmannered, as respect for your opinions depends on respect for all opinions. This is what a democracy requires.

This is why Bush will drag the Republicans down. He forgot that his oath was to govern for everybody. He also forgot that a conservative conserves, and wasted our national wealth by sending the posse to head of the jihadists in the wrong pass.

No. It means you should apply it using common sense. Like if you have hemmoroids you shouldn't just be squirting the preperation H all over your arms or ears or feet. That would be like being attacked by someone and then invading some completely separate country that had nothing to do with it.
