Holliday owns J-Roll in EVERY offensive category (except steals and triples). J-Roll had him by .005% points for fielding %.
Holliday was screwed over big time.

except for the runs, Matt Holliday had better stats than Jimmy Rollins, and The major factor behind the Phillies making the playoffs was The Mets blowing everything at the end of the season. I know that the award is for regular season, but come on! Matt worked his butt off to take his team to the playoffs as well as taking them to the World Series, not to mention that they swept Rollins' Phillies. Again, the post season is not considered, but common sense should be.
Matt Holliday gets my vote, regardless of anything.

No bias. Both are deserving, but take a look at Holliday's split stats home vs away. If Colorado was a normal park, Holliday would just be an above average player. His Colorado numbers are sick, his away numbers are pretty much slightly above average. Rollins plays in a hitters park as well, but his home vs road splits are almost identical. Playing a gold glove SS also helps, it is a much harder position that OF. He is also the first person ever to hit 30+ hr, have 20 triples, have 30+ 2B, and steal 30+ bases. To me that all around contribution is a little more that Holliday's overall numbers, plus the home vs. road splits hurt Holliday.

The East Coast bias in baseball is a myth. There are no facts to support such a claim.
As far as the MVP voting, I have no problem with Rollins winning, just as I would've had no problem if Holliday won. They both had terrific years for winning teams and were deserving.

You gotta be kidding me?! Of all East Coast cities - Philly never "benefits" from bias - unless it's a poor bias.
Rollins did not just lead the league, he set records -
He played every game, was the first player in history to collect at least 200 hits, 25 homers, 15 triples and 25 steals in a season., his 139 runs scored and 88 extra-base hits were league records for a shortstop, his 716 at-bats is also a league record, he was third shortstop in MLB history to have 30 steals and 30 homers and won a gold glove.
The MVP is not based on the team's pitching, but on the player's performance. It was close, probably closer than the votes show - but all this sour grapes?!
In the end, I would bet both players would have traded the MVP for a ring any day of the week. . .

Very surprising, but also very deserved. If you look at J-Rolls stats over the years, he isn't to bad of a player. Honestly this one could have went either way.
And don't worry about Matt Holliday. I am sure he will get one before its all over .

Not that it'll matter to anyone in this forum, but one of the Baseball Prospectus writers lists Holliday as his hypothetical #4 vote on an NL MVP ballot. It's not Rollins either; he gets a #6 vote. His #1 vote goes to -- well, if you're curious you can go and read and maybe learn something about some peer-reviewed advanced stats and metrics, it might be fun.

You wanna talk about cheated? Ask the Padres, they are still waiting for Holliday to score. Rollins key'd the Phillies comeback along with a Mets hoke job. Holliday won the rbi title because he got to play an extra game. That should be an asterik. Without that playoff game, Howard wins it.

Either way this went, there was bound to be a case for the other side.
Jimmy deserved it, but so did Holliday. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
