Horns.

My cold meds are kicking in and I am having a hard time placing thoughts together... so instead of my words here is a short cut and paste.

Giraffe horns are paired, short, unbranched, permanent, bony processes that are covered with skin and hair. They differ from other artiodactyl horns in that they do not project from the frontal bones, but lie over the sutures between the frontal and parietal bones. Giraffe horns begin as cartilaginous structures in the fetus and may not fuse to the cranium until the animal is 4 years old. Horns are present in both sexes of giraffes and even on newborns.

Both male and female giraffes have two distinct, hair-covered horns called ossicones. Male giraffes use their horns to playfully fight with one another. As male giraffes age, calcium deposits form on their skulls and other horn-like bumps develop. Giraffes can have up to three of these large bumps, two in the rear of the skull and one in the forehead region, so that it may look like they have five horns

They are horns in a way, but the antlers aren't used for anything. Most animals that have horns, ex. moose, are used for who is the dominate male or female. Most of the time the male use their horns than the female. Did you know that giraffes are the only animals that are born with their horns?

those antenna looking things are a giraffes horns, their like antlers i guess. if you look at a male and female, the males are much bigger, like a deer or something. those horns are used for battle, male against male, for a female or for food.

They are horns. They are used in fighting. I just saw a skull of one this weekend, it was really cool. I am volunteering at the zoo. It was so neat.
