Some people cannot wake up without an alarm. I have been blessed all my life that if I get enough restful sleep, I wake up without having to depend on an alarm.
There are clocks available now that can awaken you with lights and varying more soothing sounds than the blast of an alarm.

When I retired I threw my alarm clock in the trash! It used to go off every morning at 5:30! It's not the alarm that is bad for your health - it's the traffic jams that follow on the way to work.

Yeah maybe one day it could effect your body. People have went into shock from alarm clocks, and died from it.

I think it's worse for my wallet if I keep going to work late, so I'll take the 'jump start'
