They are certainly viewed by other countries as being imperialist.
Americans themselves may not feel that way, but there is a whole world community which does.

I have no party affiliation.

There is nothing at all imperialistic about the United States Of America today. The only people who say America is imperialistic are liberal morons who do not understand history or what imperialism means. I wish America was imperialistic because there is no reason a country as powerful as America should let so many crappy little countries piss around with it. If America was imperialistic we would just go conquer Venezuela to secure our oil supply rather than let a tin horn banana dictator mess with us and we just would have nuked worthless Afghanistan rather than send Americans to die there while trying to give those Arabs freedom they do not even want.

I am a libertarian who used to be a Republican until all the Republicans turned away from the teachings of Ronald Reagan and became the incompetent, Bush Junior, licking goofs they are today.

Well, we have over 700 bases in 130 countries, and currently establishing 16 permanent bases in Iraq, and a few more in Afghanistan. We have been imperialists ever since the early 1900's. But, every empire comes to and end, and ours is very near.

The economy of the United States, which possesses many elements of commonly accepted definitions of Capitalism, is tempered to some degree by components which would more appropriately be attributed to Socialism or Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT), socioeconomic systems devoted in large part to ensuring the welfare of society as a whole and which value humans as sentient beings rather than commodities.

Unfortunately, by and large, Capitalism predominates in the American socioeconomic system and represents a substantial portion of our national character (or lack thereof). America embodies ruthless exploitation of humanity and the Earth. In the capitalist paradigm, human beings and the planet are simply material objects which exist to fulfill the desires of the bourgeoisie masters. Imperialism and Neoliberalism go hand in glove with Capitalism. Insatiable greed and objectification do not respect borders or boundaries.

The prevaricators leading our nation and writing our history have portrayed Americans as wearing the white hats for far too long. Transgressions and atrocities have been committed by many nations and people throughout history, including the United States and its leaders. Consider the most recent example in Iraq. Our occupying force has killed over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians. This is state terrorism at its worst and it needs to end. With our resources, the United States could become a humanitarian force. Sadly, the Neocons have chosen guns over butter (using our tax dollars and a mountain of borrowed money) to a shameless degree, enraging many of us who still have a social conscience.
