If it's the story I heard, it happened when the man brought his adult chimp a birthday cake and was attacked by the others in the pen. He had taken his chimp to such a place because it had become too big and strong for him to handle. These animals are much stronger than people and can easily rip their arms off. They're also quite aggressive. In this particular case, it appeared to have been the result of jealousy over the attention the man was giving his chimp while ignoring the others. The man's pet was not involved in this attack but apparently also did nothing to stop it.

Do you know anything at all about "chimps?"

They are apes. Apes are incredibly strong and VERY territorial. It is very common behavior for a chimp (or any ape) to attack when it feels threatened, angry, hormonal or he feels that his territory is being threatened. They aren't clowns, entertainers or pets. They are wild animals. They're cute as babies but are NOT that way as adults.

If I was Micheal Jackson's ape, I would've been threatening towards him, just because I belong in my natural home.
