If you can not afford life insurance try burial insurance. Cheaper and will provide you with a means. Life insurance is more for the beneficiary.

You can only specify what kind of funeral you want if you go to the funeral home and purchase the plan. They will set up a payment schedule. You can purchase a nice ceremony and cremation for a lot less than a mausoleum crypt or ground burial.
Get your nearest relative on the same page and ask that they handle post-cremation disposition... like maybe sprinkling your ashes over a pretty lake or putting them under a rose bush. Have the policy where someone can access it.
In my family, every couple at least purchased one complete funeral plan with a plot, and paid for it completely, that way, if one died first, the other didn't have to worry about it "at need". With that one used, the remaining spouse in turn purchased their own plan.
Right now, work on getting back to work and don't worry about this stuff.

I live in Australia, and there are a lot of Insurance Companies advertising in the media for funeral insurance. Its qute a competative market. Maybe ring a few insurance companies over there and see if they offer funeral insurance. From memory over here, you can get cover for a basic funeral of something like $2.50 per week. Because I dont know the Laws where you live, I cannot tell you whether Insurance Companies do those kind of things., My guess is that they would because there is insurance for everything these days. Maybe make a few enquiries and see if that kind of insurance is available.

I live in NY. My nanny passed 2 years ago. Her life insurance only paid out $9,000. The cost for the most basic funeral we can get here was $11,000. It was nice don't get me wrong. Since life insurance at this point would be too expensive for you I would make inquiries at funeral homes in your area & if there was any way you can start financing an actual funeral starting now. May sound odd but it's an idea. But if you're not working....Not sure of any other way.

Not sure about Canada, but here in the States you can purchase burial insurance. The cost all depends on how much your funeral costs could be. Funerals here can cost several thousand dollars. Contact a local funeral home and ask them if they can recommend an insurance company you can speak to.
And do me a favor . . . keep your chin up! It's good that you're trying to plan ahead for what is inevitable for all of us. But please try not to let it drag you down.

get a job. in Canada there's free medical insurance. if you are single, and have no dependents, then you need no life insurance. choose cremation. you're not going to care, since you'll be dead.
