Drink 2 big glasses of water before you eat.

Good question! Have a delicious and healthy snack before you go so you're not starved. Have a perfect, beautiful piece of fruit, slice it, and put it on a plate with a bit of lovely cheese and a slice of good, whole-grain bread. Enjoy every morsel. Make it a treat for yourself. Then, when you get to the celebration, have a bit of everything and don't think about the meal in terms of limitations. Eat slowly and savor your food. Avoid empty calories that you can have any old time, like crackers and dip or chips -- feast on the things that are only on the table at Thanksgiving. If your hosts are serving a salad, have plenty of that. Limit the amount of alchol you have, not only because it's high in calories, but because it often triggers the urge to eat more.

Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Pace yourself. Have a nice handful of nuts to fill you up before you go. Have water with your meal and eat your salad nice and slow before the meal. Take a smaller plate so you can't fit as much on it and if you must have dessert (aka pumpkin pie) don't eat the crust, it has the most calories. Balance out your protein/carb ratio so that the pie is included in your carbs. Good luck and have fun!

Don't go....Thanksgiving is like asking an alcoholic to be a taste tester for a brewery.
