I've read all the books in the His Dark Materials trilogy, of which The Golden Compass is the first. They are wonderful books. And yes, they do deal with religion, but it isn't religion as we know it. It is an altered fantasy religion, just as the worlds dealt with in the books aren't our worlds. It's kind of like religion taken to an extreme. What could happen if we allowed the church free reign to do as it liked without question.

Pullman isn't suggesting that human souls are evil, and in case you do approximately 30 seconds of learn you will locate out that they are no longer an identical issues as demons. nevertheless it may be available to narrate them to demons it may we merely as easy to evaluate them to angels

All I've heard is that some conservative Christian groups have spoken out against it saying it mocks religion or is disrespectful to Roman Catholics ... stuff like that. This, of course, encourages me to see it and decide for myself. I'm a Christian, but that doesn't mean I don't have brains too.
