This answer may go against conventional parenting but I say absolutely. Better that they be exposed to great rock music at an early age before they end up as a mindless teenage drone that jumps on the next MTV bandwagon. Tool is not exactly in the same category as 2 Live Crew in terms of vulgarity.

while i do enjoy tool and think that kids should be able to go to rock concerts at that age, i think the band may be a bit extreme for a kid that age. i saw one of tool's concerts on dvd and i was shocked at some of the stuff they did on stage. i would be mortified if a child saw some of the things they did (in one scene, they simulated jacking off and ejaculating, very realistically). please, use your better judgment and wait until they are older or choose a different rock band. oh, and there is ALWAYS weed at concerts, so you may want to watch out for that. again, i'm not against tool or kids going to concerts, i just don't think they would mix well in this situation.

Earplugs!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL!
No. Seriously. A 9 year olds little ears are not developed enough for the loud decimals of a concert the magnitude of a TOOL concert. Sure, you could just buy the child some earplugs (they sell them at the shows) but you'd SAVE MONEY by just taking ME instead! ;P

Not at all. I was at a bmth concert and saw a, I'm guessing, 10 year old boy their. He was just rocking out and having a good time like everyone else. There's no age limit unless it's an 18+ admission.

if he/she like the music sure

if its general addmission then i would be carefull, make sure to stay in the back or sides to avoide pits because i 9 yeah old wouldnt be able to handle that. Also alot of a venue's have a floor with no seats thats GA and a balcony with seats so check out the venue before you by the tickets

but if it isnt GA then it should be a problem

YES it's wrong ...

Because a nine year old can go and I can't.

Tickets sold out in no time.

Your kid should be fine, I've taken my 10y/o daughter to many (concerts) she enjoys it. It's Tool so yeah.... take the kid if you want him/her to have a taste for real music !!!

depends. is the kid mature or will s/he sit there whining?
this is tough. it will affect him.
show him/her some online live videos via youtube.com.
explain to the child what will happen and if s/he wants to go.
only take them if they really really do.
but i do think its important they do eventually see them.
there is no doubt that tool performs one of the best, if not the best, concert the world has ever seen. have fun, tell us how it goes!

oh yea good point, i forgot they can be quite loud.

No. Best to brainwash the kid real young before they start listening to rap. I took my son to his first concert at 9.
