How about a walk around Castle Island in South Boston? You can stroll around Fort Independence and soak in the sights of Boston Harbor as the water traffic comes and goes. Grab a hot dog and a coke at Sullivan's. It is a serious tradition for a lot of romantics. Yes, romance does not have to be expensive. It was my favorites when I was in college on a tight budget, and it is still holds a soft spot in my heart many years and savings accounts later!

When you want to spring a little more dough -- but it still isn't expensive -- head to Pomodoro's on Hanover Street in the North End. Afterwards hop across the street to Mike's Pastry for dessert. Or, you could go to Regina's on Thatcher Street for pizza and a beer as you look over photographs of celebrities that have been there over the years.

to me, any one of the myriad of italian resturants in the north end is romantic. take a nice walk around, have a wonderful dinner and a bottle of wine. finish the evening with a stroll to mike's for a cannoli. and if you hit one of the resturants on the side streets you will find a heck of a deal. all the table tops have white linens and fresh cut flowers. most have dim lighting. i don't think you can go wrong. good luck!
