i don't know if i qualify to answer this question, as i have been married, recently divorced after 12+ years...however, i will never remarry again. reason: refuse to put myself into such a binding situation which requires me to 'rely' on any one person other than myself for anything i may need or want ever again. basically, i refuse to ever be called a freeloader again, with all my efforts and accomplishments and contributions to my marriage being forgotten because i was not the primary 'bread winner.' yes, i was married to an ***, and yes, i may meet someone special and who wants to be with me forever...maybe the second time around will be better and he really will be my 'mr. right.' however, if that's the case, he will understand and shacking up will be just as fullfilling and rewarding as marriage, minus the legality of a legal piece of paper.

The one thing that is keeping me from getting married is I don't have a man in my life. If I did, he'd have to be awesome (not perfect because I'm not) and he'd have to love my kids and my kids would have to approve of him.
I'd like to get married. I don't want to spend the rest of my life alone. But I would not lower my standards just to have a man.

Comes down to the fact that by my societies standards, I'm crazy. Now if I want a relationhips to work, which is what I actually need, I need someone who shares my same purpose in life, someone as equally crazy, and I'm still waiting.....

I don't want to be tied down. I mean I'm ready to commit to a serious and long-term relationship but marriage is too much of a commitment. Nothing will scare me off more than a man who wants to meet me at the altar.

I guess I like my independence too much. I'm afraid of feeling tied down and there are alot of times that I really like having the bed all to myself!! lol
