not on these newer cars as they automatically shift when they hit the redline between 1st. and 2nd. gear.

Actually many automatic car, have cable operated shift levers still, so you could potential put it into a gear that is way to low and wreck parts. However some transmissions lock lower gear past a certain speed, for example, you cant shift into first when the car is going faster that 15mph, and so on. Mostly though it depends on the particular car, and the particular transmission, but for the well being of your car avoid manual shifting. The automatic transmission was made to be just that, automatic.

sorta you can controll when u want the car to shift, in drive the tranny will shift at a factory set rpm, so if you put in a lets say a stage 2 jet performence chip the chip would force the tranny to shift at peek rpm it also controlls air fuel ratio, if you bump the shifter to the next gear at what you think is peek rpm it will make a diff.... some peep are clue less. alot of drag cars are automatic and thay are shifted maualy

no,
The only thing that you will do is prevent the shift when it should happen and then the tranny runs at excessive RPM for some period of time. This results in excessive heat in the transmission oil...this reduces the quality of the oil and may cause excessive wear

ahhaha yess unless when you are in d it will let the car go to max revs if you are on full throttle the whole time i think
or you can put it in 1 accelerate to the max revs where the red part starts if you want better acceleration and then shift to 2 then shift when it gets to the red part then put it in drive and still have full throttle

No.Besides if you want to increase your accelaration than you should have gotten a manual. You don't get an automatic and try to increase accelaration.
