Sounds to me like your parner was in prison for a while for you to have moved on with your life. If that is the case, then I wouldnt be worrying too much about his/her feelings. He/she should have known the consequences of breaking the Law to begin with. He/she should have realised the risks he/she takes in committing the crime.....that includes losing you as well. There are consequences for everything. When someone is away for a long time then its only natural to adjust to life without them. You need to be straight up with them. Tell him/her before he gets out of prison that you have move on. Youve got to tell him/her before he/she gets out. If he/she moves back in with you, then its going to be doubly hard to break up. Do it now. Don't care what your partner thinks. Dont care what anyone else thinks. He/she did the crime. He/she has to understand the consequences of leaving you for so long. Parr for the course as far as I am concerned and no-one should blame you.

Your partner is probably looking forward to seeing you for more reasons than one if you know what I mean. But life has taken you to a point where you're happy & you know what you want. You need to be honest with your partner right away. Do this before your partner either settles into your place and/or has relations with you. It would just make it harder.

after a 13, believe me, all he'll want to do is have a quiet life...

things wont be like they were... 10/10 for not dear john-ing him... but, he'll know the world moves on... you think whats changed in 13 years, itll be like an alien planet.. how you gonna explain emos/goths... and why petrol cost 5 quid a gallon instead of 3 quid.. etc etc...

sit the guy down, and talk to him... hes a big boy, tell him how it is... and go from there.

Your going to have to confront this. Its only the right thing to do. Thirteen years is a long time and I'm sure he'll understand this. You didn't put him in jail. Be honest about your feelings he'll respect you for that. It's just something he'll have to get over.

Be honest with your partner. Let them know how you feel and that since you and them have been apart that you have learned to live on your own and that you really do not want a relationship.

Why does everyone assume it's a man getting out of prison? If it is, then Liam is a homosexual or a girl with a man's name.

Just write her a letter and tell her not to come home to you.

You missed your golder opportunity to divorce him. If I were you I would be trying to figure out why I was such a procrastinator.

i would've cut him loose when he went IN to prison. depending on what he's in for, you either tell him, or flee the state.
