x^2+8x+12=(x+6)(x+2)
x^2-x-6=(x-3)(x+2)

lcd = (x+6)(x+2)(x-3)

(x+6)(x+2)(x-3)
because
you factor the denominator of both expressions
the 1st one factors to:
(x+6)(x+2)
the 2nd one factors to:
(x-3)(x+2)
so then you take what they both have in common multiplied by what's left over
