The three stamps can be connected to each other in pairs (group of two) in 6 ways
That is 3 * 2 = 6 ways.

Example: say the stamps are A B C then the combinations would be:
AB AC BA BC CA CB.

Given this stamp example, no more permutations and combinations would be allowed.

whenever you have a question like this
you figure out how many places you have, which is 3 here
so a stamp can go in each place ____ ____ ____
so if we have 3 stamps
you multiply the number of stamps you have the option to choose
so in this problem the 1st time we have 3 choices, then we have 2 stamps to choose from, then we only have 1, so:
we do: 3x2x1 = 6

hope this helps!

While I agree with 6, a couple of answers showed how 3 stamps could be arranged in row, while the question said "connected"
I suspect that means as removed from a larger sheet.
One can have a straight row of three either horizontally or vertically, and four different rotations of an "L" shape.
