I've seen British and Icelandic versions of this show, so it's not an American thing.

I love it, but I don't think it reinforces the idea that we are idiots. Remember, the people on that show have been out of school for so long, that they lost a lot of what they learned in 5th grade. they've gone on to college, or have a career, that most of that information is useless now.

I'm a travel agent, I haven't taken a math class since my senior year in high school. As a travel agent, I have no need for calculus, trigonometry, or geometry. The hardest thing I have to do is add, subtract, multiply, or divide. Simple stuff. I don't remember any algebra or quadratic equations because I have no need for it.

It's more of a test of how much information you lost as you got older as opposed to how much of an idiot you are.

The whole show is based on general knowlege questions, not questions that a fifth grader can answer. So basically if you don't know how to do simple math problems or know the 20th president of the United States, then you are pretty much screwed. Some of those questions are more like 7th or 8th grade questions.

i like the show somewhat. however the questions are too American . who was The 15th president and so on.
i find that shows such as this one and some others like the tonight show really do make me wonder about Americans.

They just ask things that we used to know but forgot with the time.

I've never seen it, and don't want to. It only reinforces the stereotype that Americans are stupid.
