I think my video card is okay and my RAM and great. But do I need a better processor then 4000+? Also I am on a tight budget and am wondering if it is a good idea to spend $30 extra to upgrade to Vista Home Premium?

If you haven't already bought stuff, here is what I would change. Eliminate one of the extra 1GB RAM sticks, 2GB is plenty. Take that money and get a better video card, the new HD 3870 for about $220 is great for the price. The processor is fine. You should spend the extra for Home Premium, it has Aero.

It is pretty good. The vid card will have a hard time playing any of the new games at good quality, but if you don't really care about that then it is fine. Personally I would have spent the little extra to get one of the 8800 GT's. The processor is fine although with a dual core it would have been better to get an Intel, or maybe one of the new AMD Phenons. With the amount of RAM you have it probably wouldn't hurt to make the upgrade, but I don't know much about Vista so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Yeah--spend the $30 and get Vista Premium as it has Aero and Basic doesn't. Cpu and video card are weak. I'd replace that 7600 first thing cuz video games depend on the video card first, ram second and cpu third. A 256MB card isn't gonna cut it and you shouldn't use a card that runs the obsolete DX9 in a Vista rig. See if Santa Claus will get you a nice 8800GT and a Corsair 520watt PSU to run it for Xmas.
After you get the new card play Bioshock in DX10 and you'll see what I mean.

those residences are surprisingly plenty sturdy for recent video games that's composed of Halo 3 and COD: MW. i contemplate whether you will use all this unclear "cool" advantageous properties of Vista residing house top classification? Vista remains surprisingly plenty risky in terms of unfixed insects, so i propose to you to spend that funds on upgrading RAM or photograph card incredibly than on some top classification team which isn't very sensible at actual existence. in case you think of that your RAM or video card is sufficient, then think of appropriate to the fee of progression of gaming marketplace. basically 2 years in the past we fought that 128MB for video card is sufficient.
