Our Farm Subsidies do a great job of subsidizing the Billionaires like Paul Allen, Lee Bass and Edgar Bronfman Sr. Not to mention Millionaires like Scottie Pippen, and Rep Michele Bachman R. Minn that tireless fighter of entitlements.

Why can't we afford to provide health care for children (SCHIP) I know the means test seems high for family income, but clearly it is not nearly as high as the means test for Farm Subsidies

Netjr. The subsidies actually are a double whammy because they are generally designed to create HIGHER Prices although some of it results in food that goes to School lunches. You miss my point. Everyone screams that we can't pay for Health insurance for our underclass, yet we have no effective means test for Billionaire welfare.

As far as creating jobs, many would argue the jobs go to illegals

Thanks for a reasoned response I appreciate it.

Math is an intriguing thing isn't it. The farm subsidies might make the likes of millionares and billionares even richer, but they also help to create farming jobs and even more important - affordable food sources for those very poor you want too help. Do the math and figure out what important food crops might cost without US subsidies...better yet imagine those food crops don't exist because without the subsidies those billionares might not even have the crops grown.

Now relating to SCHIP add in all the people Bush agreed too and figure out the balance between them and what the Democrats wanted? I'd be curious to see what you come up with - its not a lot.

We need to cut off all the multimillion dollar corporate farms from subsidies, and quit helping them run family farms into the ground.

netjr, do you really think these corporate farms are going to fire the employees that they need to continue to be profitable, just because they aren't AS PROFITABLE???

If you do, better take a general business class.
