Probably both. He's so obsessed to get popular he pulled a crazy antic. However, this is NOT COOL and NOT OKAY! I don't care HOW old you are, he must learn his lesson. REPORT HIM TO THE OFFICE! He could accidently hurt someone!

Ok,let's see,I'm in the 7th Grade and go to a Middle School 6th Grade - 8th Grade,I see the 6th Graders almost everyday, and I say to myself,"Look at em',just a bunch of lames!" Trying to be all cool, just be yo' self, shoot,I ain't gotta act like I'm not me,I think something in my birth included being Cool and Popular.
I don't like those 6th Graders! UGH!

I agree with the media induced ignorance for partial blame. Let's not forget about the parent's here either. Honestly though, depending on his social upbringing, he may just be doing for a heighten sense of popularity. Kid's that age don't USUALLY bring stuff like that to school, unless they're going to show it off. Still, I wouldn't let something like that go unnoticed. Bring it to someone's attention, teacher, parent, if nothing else, the kid himself.

Believe it or not folks the world has changed. I can't believe I am saying this BUT when I was a kid taking a gun to school meant you were in the rod and gun club. I remember young teens taking rifles to school on their shoulder. It was no big deal.
I know...I know..times have changed.

Well I went to Thurston High School (Springfield, Oregon. My sophomore year.) back in 1998 when Kip Kinkel murdered his parents and 2 students at school. 21 others were injured when he opened fire in the cafeteria. You always say "That will never happen here" but believe me, it DOES. Do NOT take that stuff lightly!
BTW Kip was suspended the day before for bringing a gun to school....

What's crazy is the fact he can obtain a gun. Kids today can get a hold of nearly anything an adult can and that's what's really crazy.

More than likely the fact he has even access to something like this spells trouble, i hope to God the school knows what happened expelled him, and turned over the incident to police.
